如果在翻译软件里输入“NOIR”，它会告诉你：这代表法国轮盘赌里的黑色数字。但实际上，NOIR是一个法语单词，意为“黑色”，国内D版的翻译为《黑街二人组》想必是港式的思维套路所致。
　　但如果翻阅更多的资料，就可以发现这部以黑手党仇杀为题材的动画取名为《NOIR》大有渊源可溯。
　　在40年代，美国好莱坞拍摄了一系列以黑帮或犯罪侦破为题材的电影，它们具有共同的电影风格与处理腐化等相关主题，多采用低调灯光与阴郁气氛等手法。战后的法国影评家于1946年将这类具有共同风格的美国电影归类为黑色电影，即“FILM NOIR”。这类电影在视觉上常用暗调的照明设计，画面中的阴暗部分大于亮部形成强烈对比的黑白影调，以造成反差较大的影像，常见的以昏暗路灯下的湿黑街道，倾斜、失衡的摄影镜头，极力渲染一种低调压抑的气氛。1944年电影《双倍赔偿》的编剧钱德勒为侦探电影奠定了“黑色美学”：路灯，淫雨，黑色风衣，肮脏的酒吧，色情而冷酷的音乐，神情古怪的陌生人，街对面突然的一颗子弹，还有，风情万种的黑色女人。
